SELF STRATEGY
Do you have a Self Strategy?
How’s it going? That’s a question you might hear many times everyday. Answers are usually “Its great!” or “It’s going pretty well” or “Not Bad”. Frequency along with some elements of fear, tend to make our answer given with little thought and almost no substance or truth. We resort to that answer to serve brevity or a reluctance to open ourselves to the judegement of another. To say we’re not feeling all that well or we’re frustrated with our jobs etc, would very often lead to an awkward conversation. We fall back on the “fake happy” response to simply move on. We don’t think the other person really wants to hear about our problems and the fact is, we usually don’t want to say it our loud. Worse even, if they were prepared to listen, do we want their response and/or advice.
The truth is – you need to ask yourself that question….”How’s it going?”. Then give yourself a thoroughly honest answer.
- Are you feeling ok?
- Are you feeling terrific?!
- Are you’re tired all the time?
- Are you frustrated with your job?
- Do you feel like you’re not seeing the success in life you should?
Almost all of us have been there – the fake happy point in life. The challenge is to establish this as your “set point” to make a first movement forward. Doesn’t matter the size of the first step, just as long as its movement in a positive direction and move away from your fake happy spot.
